The artist

An intense fascination with water, and a deep respect for the wild.

Erin Burge is a representational oil painter raised in the Okanagan and shaped by years on the west coast in Tofino — surfing, hiking, and learning the moods of the Pacific.

Her work returns again and again to a single, restless subject — the Pacific itself: its barrels, swells, and ever-shifting light. Each painting is an invitation to slow down and feel the salt air, the spray, and the quiet of the coast.

“My entire life I have held an intense fascination with water, and a great deal of respect for the ocean and its powerful embodiment.”

Cool Winds Blow — seascape oil painting
In the studio

Built in layers, painted from life.

Every canvas begins on the trail — in reference gathered while hiking and exploring the coast. From there each painting is built up in oils, layer over layer, until the light feels true.

Watch the work come together in time-lapse, from blank canvas to finished piece.
